The Rev'd Robert A. Picken

Fr. Rob was appointed Priest~in~Charge of the Church of the Ascension by the Bishop of Long Island in August 2006. Prior to his arrival here, Fr. Rob was the Chaplain at Camp DeWolfe, the Diocesan Summer Camp. He graduated the General Theological Seminary in Manhattan with a Masters in Divinity in May 2006.

While in seminary, Fr. Rob served as seminarian intern at St. John's Episcopal Church in Park Slope and at St. Edward the Martyr in East Harlem. He was also Chief Sacristan of the Chapel of the Good Shepherd.

Prior to seminary studies, Fr. Rob worked in local government. He has executive office experience, as well as experience coordinating two summer recreation programs: one for children and one for teens. He received his undergraduate degree in political philosophy from the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC in 2002.

In addition to his parish duties, Fr. Rob serves: as Vice President of the Board of Managers of Camp DeWolfe; as a member of the Archdeaconry Executive Council; on the Diocesan Covention Committees: Dispatch of Business and Miscellaneous Business (Chair); and as an elected member on the Bishop Coadjutor Search Committee.

A native of Long Island (Massapequa), Fr. Rob enjoys watching the Mets and the Islanders, playing golf, reading and traveling.
